ABOUT GROOVE NOTE RECORDS:
Welcome
to the Groove Note web site. It's been nearly
four years since we got started with our first
release GRV1001 Jacintha - Here's To Ben and we
now have twelve titles available with a few more
more due out later this year.
Groove
Note Records was started by Ying Tan, one of the
original founding members of Classic Records.
The intention with Groove Note, was to broaden
our horizons and venture into the brave new world
of original productions and recordings with an
occasional reissue thrown into the mix e.g. GRV1003
Illinois Jacquet - Birthday Party.
We
continue to focus our attention on original recordings
but always with a close eye to improving the technical
quality of all our projects. Related to this committment
to quality are two recent developments:
-
Groove Note has recently recorded its first Direct
To Disc LP set in early 2001, GRV1009-1DD The
Bill Cunliffe Trio - Live At Bernie's, and which
is available as a double 45 rpm 180g LP deluxe
set;
-
our adoption of DSD and SACD as our preferred
audiophile digital format since late 1999.
Groove
Note was one of the earliest labels to be invited
by Sony to participate in its pilot audiophile
SACD program. Since then we have released a total
of 6 titles on SACD. (Please see the Catalog section
for format release details.) With the new SACD
format gaining widespread acceptance in the audiophile
and traditional markets, we really believe that
these state of the art recordings provide our
customers with levels of satisfaction not previously
possible with 24K Gold CDs.
